I too am an atheist. Ive got nothing against religion, just people that think that killing is a rightous way of spreading theirs. If whatever god you believe in is supposed to be good and you want to get into heaven or wherever you believe is the good place after death, then how would killing help you get there? Yeah, everyone who is religious isnt a murderer but the people who use a holy war as an excuse are just wrong. You can't justify events like terrorist attacks by saying that it is your religious duty to kill the people that appose your religion. I'm not saying that religion is the cause of all evil in the world because many non religious people also commit murders, but many of the huge losses of people at a time are closely tied with religion. Many people died during the crusades, if christianity was not followed so closely, they most likely would not have happened. If some muslims that thought they had to fight a holy war did not believe that, then many peoples lives would not have been effected last September.
